Facing a minor setback in 1987-88, the company's yield per hectare stands at 2255 kg. Warren Tea, along with its affiliates, acquired a 24% equity stake in Vegepro Foods & Feeds from Glaxo.
In line with its growth strategy, the company diversified into sugar manufacturing and other downstream products. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed with the Karnataka Industrial Investment and Development Corporation to establish a 2-mtpa cement plant. Furthermore, the company identified the engineering sector for diversification, evident in the amalgamation of Warren Metal Industries in 1997-98.
The Scheme of Arrangement between DPIL Limited, Spectra Plaza Private Limited, and the Company, effective from March 31, 2005, facilitated the transfer of specified demerged assets and liabilities, as well as the amalgamation of Spectra Plaza Private Limited with the Company. Consequently, 1014153 Equity Shares were issued and allotted to the shareholders of SPPL, including DPIL shareholders in 2007-08.
In 2011, due to restructuring, Warren Tea Holdings Limited ceased to be the company's holding company. The Scheme of Arrangement for Demerger of Seven Tea Estates to James Warren Tea Limited, effective from January 9, 2014, with retrospective effect from April 1, 2011.
Warren Steels Private Limited ceased to be an Associate Company in 2016. During the same year, the Company acquired an additional 35,00,000 Equity Shares of Maple, increasing its holding to 46.92%.
In 2017, realignment of the company's promoters' interests occurred, leading Maple, part of the company's Promoter Group, to acquire 1076664 Equity shares, making the Company an Associate of Maple. Subsequently, in 2018, due to restructuring, Warren Tea Holdings Limited ceased to be the company's holding company.
In November 2022, the Company decided to exit the Plantation and Manufacturing of Tea Business in Assam, opting to focus on retail consumer marketing of teas and remaining active as merchant exporters of tea to CIS/Eastern Europe/Gulf Countries. Consequently, the Company sold all its remaining four Tea Estates during the period 2022-23.
