Founded in 1933 by the visionary industrialist Shri Mahadev L Dahanukar, TI initially operated in the sugar and allied products sector. Inspired by the esteemed freedom fighter Lokmanya Balgangadhar Tilak, the factory complex was named Tilaknagar as a tribute. In 1987, due to government regulations, TI ceased its sugar business and transitioned to focus on industrial alcohol, IMFL, and sugar cubes. The company's journey included diversification and mergers, culminating in the formation of Tilaknagar Industries Ltd. on August 6, 1993, through the merger of Maharashtra Sugar Mills Ltd. and Tilaknagar Distilleries & Industries Ltd.
Maintaining its commitment to quality and innovation, TI expanded its product range, introducing notable brands such as Seven Islands Vintage Single Malt Scotch Whisky and Mansion House Whisky. Strategic acquisitions, like the stake in Mason & Summers Marketing Services Pvt. Ltd. and the IMFL business of IFB Agro Industries Ltd., further strengthened its market position.
Continuing its growth trajectory, TI enhanced its production capacity and embarked on collaborations, as seen with the partnership with PunjabExpo Breweries Private Limited. Recent milestones include the launch of premium brands like Courrier Napoleon Brandy - Green and the commencement of production for Pernod Ricard India Private Limited at its Shrirampur bottling facility.
In May 2022, the Board of Directors approved a Composite Scheme of Amalgamation, integrating four wholly-owned subsidiaries into TI, further consolidating its operations and enhancing its market presence.
