Established in 1973 under the leadership of Mr. J.P. Agarwal, Surya Roshni Limited (formerly known as Prakash Tubes Limited) began as a steel pipe manufacturer. Over the years, it diversified into various sectors including lighting in 1984, PVC pipes in 2010, and consumer durables in 2014-15. Under the brand "Prakash Surya," the company's steel pipes and strips business became India's largest manufacturer of GI pipes and the largest exporter of ERW pipes. In 2018, it further bolstered its steel pipes business by setting up a 3LPE coating facility for the Oil & Gas and CGD sector. The lighting division, operating since 1983 under the brand "Surya," is a leader in conventional to modern LED lighting. Additionally, the consumer durables business offers a variety of fans and home appliances. The company's operations are divided into steel and lighting divisions. The steel division, which began operations in 1974, manufactures ERW steel pipes and tubes, cold-rolled formed sections and profiles, and CR strips. The lighting division manufactures fluorescent tube lamps, general lighting systems, and various other lighting products. Backward integration projects and capacity expansions have been ongoing, including ventures with Osram and expansions into energy-saving lamps and CFL manufacturing. With continuous advancements, including the introduction of innovative LED products and expansions into new markets, Surya Roshni Limited has remained at the forefront of the industry.
