Initially, the company focused solely on manufacturing and selling unprocessed grey cloth. Following the takeover, it swiftly established a processing facility and gradually expanded its production to include a wide range of textiles such as shirtings, sarees, and dress materials. SML expanded its operations by establishing another composite textile unit in Akola in 1974, dedicated to producing tyre cord fabric and grey canvas of varying densities.
In 1981, the company diversified its activities by founding a paper mill in Gondia, Maharashtra, dedicated to the production of writing and printing paper. The company went public in September 1992 to help fund its modernization efforts. Its Paper & Paperboard division was subsequently transferred to its subsidiary, Simplex Paper & Pulp Limited.
In 2005, the company underwent a demerger of its Paper & Textile Divisions. As per the Demerger Scheme, the Paper Division was transferred to Simplex Paper & Pulp Ltd, while the Textile Division was transferred to Gaalaxy Garments Ltd. Consequently, the company's name changed from 'The Simplex Mills Company Limited' to 'Simplex Realty Limited' effective from November 9, 2005.
Following this, the company acquired 100% shares of Simplex Renewable Resources Private Limited (SRRPL) during the fiscal year 2010-11, making SRRPL a wholly-owned subsidiary. The 'Simplex KhushAangan' Project in Malad, Mumbai was completed during 2017-18, and the Nachinolla Project, comprising 4 Villas in Goa, was completed in 2023.
