Picturehouse Media Ltd, formerly known as Telephoto Entertainment Ltd, was established on February 2, 2000, in Tamil Nadu with the primary objective of engaging in the production of Telefilms, Tele-serials, and Cinematographic Films. The transformation to Picturehouse Media Limited (PHML) occurred on March 29, 2011. Founded by Mr. Suresh Menon and Mrs. Asha Menon, the company primarily focuses on movie production and associated activities. Initially acquiring assets, work-in-progress, and film library copyrights from Telephoto Films, a sole proprietorship of Mr. Suresh Menon, Picturehouse Media Ltd has expanded its operations to encompass the production of tele-serials, tele-films, advertisement films, and feature films. The company's tele-serials in Tamil are subsequently dubbed into other regional languages for broadcast on respective channels within the Sun network. In March 2000, Telephoto issued 875,000 equity shares at Rs. 60 per share, aggregating to Rs. 525 lakhs, to venture capital and private equity investors. In line with the global growth in animation, the company plans to establish an animation and special effects studio to enhance its production capabilities and offer services to other production entities. Additionally, the company leased a well-equipped preview theater in 2000-2001. Acting as an Executive Producer, Picturehouse Media Ltd has undertaken the production of Hindi feature films, with projects scheduled for completion in November 2003 and 2005. Notably, the company assigned two ongoing projects to Smile India Entertainment Pvt Limited in 2005. In 2006, the company acquired AGS Properties Development (India) Pvt Limited, obtaining land assets in Chennai. The company ventured into feature film production under the PVP Cinema banner, releasing its first Tamil film 'Rajapattai' in 2012, followed by 'Naan-E' in July 2012. Picturehouse Media Ltd diversified its operations by acquiring 100% equity share capital of NBFC named PVP Capital Limited in April 2012, and in the fiscal year 2012-13, it produced its inaugural Telugu feature film 'Balupu' under the PVP Cinema banner. Furthermore, in the fiscal year 2013-14, the company incorporated a wholly-owned subsidiary, Picturehouse Media Private Limited, in Singapore with a paid-up capital of 5,000 Singapore Dollars.
