Makers Laboratories Limited (MLL) was established in the State of Maharashtra and began its operations on July 21st, 1984. The company was founded by Satish Kumar Gupta and Naval Tated. MLL specializes in the manufacturing of pharmaceutical formulations and drug intermediates. Makers Drugs & Food Products Ltd. (MDFP) was merged with MLL effective from April 1st, 1993. Under the terms of the merger, MLL issued 3,02,700 fully paid equity shares to MDFP shareholders at a ratio of 2 shares for every 1 share they held in MDFP.
In the fiscal year 1996-97, MLL expanded its production capacity for Tablets/Capsules from 3000 to 3175 lacs, Oral/Liquids/Dry Syrups from 420,000 to 500,000 liters, and Ointments/Creams/External Liquids from 107,000 to 120,000 kilograms/liters. Further expansion took place in 1999, with an increase in the installed capacity of Tablets & Capsules by 13.25 crore units. In the subsequent year, the company again expanded its Tablets & Capsules capacity by 15.00 crore units, bringing the total capacity to 60.00 crores. The Modernisation of Formulation Drugs, initiated during 1999-2000, was successfully completed, with funding obtained through a Rights Issue of Equity Shares.
