Hindustan Construction Company Limited (HCC) was established by Seth Walchand Hirachand on January 27, 1926. HCC is a leading player in engineering construction, operating in India and globally. The company has successfully completed numerous high-value projects in various sectors such as transportation, power, marine projects, oil and gas pipeline constructions, irrigation, water supply, utilities, and urban infrastructure. HCC has expertise in constructing Hydroelectric, Nuclear, Thermal Gas, and Diesel-based Power Projects for Power Generation. Additionally, the company has undertaken the construction of major dams, barrages, aqueducts, and tunnels in the field of Water Supply and Irrigation. On October 11, 1967, Walchand Tandur Cement Company Ltd., Hyderabad became a subsidiary of HCC. The Ganga Bridge Construction Co. Ltd. also became a subsidiary of the company on March 30, 1976. In 1986, HCC signed foreign consultancy agreements with Pullman Power Products International Corporation, U.S.A, and Interform, Sweden for its Trombay chimney works. The technical collaboration agreement with Taisei Corporation of Japan was renewed in 1987 for the underground tunnel work for the Metro railway project in Calcutta. Foreign consultancy agreements were also made with Geoconsult of Austria for the construction of a tunnel between Sewri and Futka Tank in Mumbai for BMC, and with Bureau BBR International Ltd., Zurich in Switzerland, for the superstructure design and construction of Godavari Bridge III in AP. In 1991, HCC entered into a joint venture with M/s. Impregilo-Italy and submitted a tender bid for the Nathpa Thakri hydel project in Himachal Pradesh.
