Originally established in 1984 under the name Seven Heaven Leasing & Finance Ltd, the company underwent a name change to Hathway Bhawani Cabletel & Datacom Ltd on August 13, 1999. In 2000, it entered a joint venture with Star TV to introduce interactive media services via its cable network. The company received a Category 'B' Internet Service Provider license for the Mumbai Circle from the Department of Telecommunications on September 13, 2000.
Throughout the early 2000s, Hathway Bhawani Cabletel & Datacom Ltd aggressively expanded its cable business in various parts of Mumbai, investing in modern equipment to enhance its services and introduce value-added offerings like internet and broadband. Expansion efforts continued in subsequent years, with ventures into new territories like Mumbra and collaborations for cable services in areas like Khopoli.
The company also embraced technological advancements, launching Digital Cable TV Services in its network through Digital Boxes in 2005-06 and implementing the Conditional Access System (CAS) in South Mumbai in 2006-07. In October 2010, a subsidiary, Hathway Bhawani NDS Network Private Limited, was established to facilitate further business expansion.
In 2013, the company implemented the DAS plan, followed by significant developments in 2017 when it became the distributor of Hathway Digital Private Limited. Additionally, in 2018-19, Hathway Bhawani Cabletel & Datacom Ltd witnessed substantial investments from Jio Content Distribution Holdings Private Limited and related entities, leading to changes in shareholding and a mandatory open offer to shareholders.
