Harrisons Malayalam Ltd., part of the RPG group, operates across various sectors such as tea and rubber plantations, engineering services (structural, civil, mechanical, and electrical), trading and export of tea, coffee, and spices, as well as bio-technology. The company primarily focuses on plantations, with tea and rubber estates in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Established in 1984 through the merger of Harrisons & Crossfield and Malayalam Plantations, it conducted a rights issue in 1992 to fund expansion and diversification projects. The company's factories - Surianalle (Tea Factory), Kumbazha Centrifuge (Rubber Factory), and Achoor Factory - are ISO 9002 certified. Venturing into floriculture through a joint venture with Universal Plants of France, it exports flowers to Holland and aims to introduce new varieties while expanding the domestic market. In 1999-2000, Harrisons Universal Flowers ceased being a subsidiary. Introducing products like Rhododendron and high-yielding sugar cane, it successfully entered markets like Australia and Denmark with young and potted plants. Besides tea, it exports spices, rubber, and tissue culture products. Managing contracts in Sri Lanka to enhance agricultural practices, it launched a premium Assam tea brand named 'Spencers'. In 2004, restructuring involved transferring the Rubber Undertaking to CEAT Ltd and amalgamating several subsidiaries. In 2009-10, all wholly owned subsidiaries merged with Harrisons Malayalam Ltd., except for the Investment Undertaking, transferred to Sentinel Tea and Exports Limited. Enchanting Plantations Limited and Harmony Plantations Limited were incorporated in 2012. As of March 31, 2022, the company had three wholly owned subsidiary companies: Enchanting Plantations Limited, Harmony Plantations Limited, and Malayalam Plantations Limited. In 2022, the company acquired all shares of Malayalam Plantations Limited from Enchanting Plantations Limited, making it the sole wholly owned subsidiary.
