GSPL, a subsidiary of GSPC, was established on December 23, 1998. It began transporting natural gas in November 2000 after completing the first segment of its network. The 14 km Hazira-Mora pipeline was put into operation after being acquired from GSPC.
During 2001-02, GSPL completed the 45 km Amboli-Dahej pipeline. The following year, the company added 66 km of grid pipeline, including the Mora-Utran, Cairn-Mora, and Bhadhut-Paguthan pipelines, as well as GNFC, Videocon, and Mora Kribhco spur lines. Subsequently, GSPL commissioned the Paguthan-Baroda pipeline, the Baroda-Ahmedabad-Kalol pipeline, the GACL-Petronet pipeline, the Mora-Sajod pipeline, and the Kalol-Santej pipeline.
In 2005-06, EPC contracts for the Anand-Rajkot, Kalol-Himmatnagar, Kalol-Mehasana, and Anklav-Dhuvaran pipelines were awarded to the company. The next year, these pipelines were successfully commissioned. GSPL also entered into an agreement with RIL for gas transportation from Bharuch to Jamnagar for a 15-year period starting from the first quarter of 2008-2009.
On July 8, 2011, a GSPL-led consortium secured a contract to develop three cross-country Natural Gas Transmission Pipelines: Mallavaram-Bhilwara (1585 Kms), Mehsana-Bhatinda (1670 Kms), and Bhatinda-Jammu-Srinagar (740 Kms). In 2013, the company secured a capacity of about 1 MTPA of natural gas re-gasification with PLL at the Dahej terminal in Gujarat for 20 years starting in 2016. In 2015, GSPL received authorization to develop the CGD Network in the Amritsar district covering a 2648 square km area.
