GWL's operations encompass the manufacturing and sale of Surface Finishings, along with Engineering and Mall businesses. Its manufacturing facilities are located in Dadra, Vapi (Gujarat), Barotiwala (Himachal Pradesh), and Samba (Jammu & Kashmir), with the Engineering division situated in Khed (Pune District) and a Mall in Kandivli (Mumbai).
For the production of electro-chemicals, GWL entered a technical collaboration with Union Inks and Graphics Pte Singapore, along with collaborations with M/s Enthone-OMI Inc. U.S.A., M/s Aucos of Germany, M/s Kabushiki Kaisha Nippon Dacro Shamrock, Japan, and a joint venture agreement with M/s Goema GmbH of Germany for Effluent Treatment Plants and Metal Recovery Systems manufacturing.
In 1999-2000, a new plant was established at Dadra for chemical manufacturing, providing a significant cost advantage in servicing customers in the western and southern regions of India. Collaborations with Manz GmbH of Germany and Surfilco Inc. of the USA were initiated for design, manufacture, and marketing of Plating Plants, Filters, Pumps, and related products.
A feasibility study was conducted for setting up a Hydel Power Project at Ani in Himachal Pradesh, with the detailed project report submitted to HIMRUJA, the state government agency, gaining approval. The project was subsequently transferred to Growel Energy company, a fully owned subsidiary of GWL.
In 2002-03, GWL issued a bonus in the ratio of 1:2. 'Big Bazaar', a Hyper Market, commenced operations in mid-May 2005. The merger of Bombay Paints Ltd (BPL) with GWL was completed through a Scheme of Rehabilitation-cum-Merger effective from April 1, 2008. Commercial production at the new 4000 MT manufacturing plant in Jammu commenced in June 2009.
The Phase 1 project of Growel 101 shopping and entertainment mall was named 'Growel's Plaza 101' and became operational in 2008, followed by the Second Phase in August 2010. During FY 2016-17, a new plant in Dadra began production of paints with an installed capacity of 5,000 KL p.a., costing Rs 8.28 crores and becoming operational in January 2017.
