Computer Point Ltd was established on September 14th, 1984, with a focus on providing IT education to the youth. The company ventured into setting up computer retail stores across India and establishing a software development unit catering to both the domestic and international markets. Additionally, it introduced computer education services branded as 'CHIP CLUB' and launched state-of-the-art Modi Olivetti personal computers. The company also reintroduced Spectrum home computers and its proprietary Flamingo consumables through its retail outlets.
In the fiscal year 1991-92, the company entered agreements with Ventura Software Inc. from the UK and Logitech from Switzerland to distribute cutting-edge products such as Ventura Desk Top Publishing Software and Logitech computer peripherals in SAARC countries after repackaging.
In November 1991, Computer Point Ltd issued 2,000,000 equity shares at par value of Rs. 10 each through rights offering on a 1:1 basis, all of which were subscribed. Additionally, 100,000 equity shares at Rs. 10 each were offered to employees.
