In 2001, management shifted to the Bangur family, injecting fresh resources and vigor to expand and enhance core plantation activities. Beyond traditional plantation endeavors, the company diversified into other ventures such as the Fire Engineering Division in Bombay and an Aqua Culture Farm in Goa spread across approximately 106 acres, cultivating tiger prawns and shrimps. Additionally, it established a 100% EOU Rubber Wood Processing factory near Kinalur Estate to convert rubber wood into durable material through chemical treatment using foreign expertise.
With well-established markets, the company's flagship product remains Centrifuged latex, particularly sought after by condom manufacturing facilities, commanding premium prices. Rubber, obtained as latex, undergoes processing into various products including stabilized concentrated latex, smoked sheets, crepes, and crumb/block rubber across different grades.
Following a Scheme of Arrangement approved by the Hon'ble High Court at Calcutta on December 3rd, 2012, between Cochin Malabar Estates and Industries Limited and Joonktollee Tea & Industries Ltd., the Cochin Plantation Division (comprising Chemoni, Pudukad, Eichipara Rubber Estates & Pullikanam Tea Estate) was demerged from the company and merged with Joonktollee Tea & Industries Ltd. effective April 1st, 2011. Consequently, Cochin Malabar Estates and Industries Limited ceased to be a subsidiary of Joonktollee Tea & Industries Ltd. from October 7th, 2013.
