Betul (Madhya Pradesh): A sub-inspector has been suspended at a police station in Betul, Madhya Pradesh, after a video of a man being tied to a window surfaced on social media. An official gave this information on Saturday.
The video shows a man selling tea at Multai police station tied to a window grill with a stick between his neck and hands.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Nischal Jharia said that taking cognizance of the video, Sub-Inspector Sunil Sareyam has been suspended after the victim's complaint.
An inquiry by a gazetted officer has also been ordered and further disciplinary action will be taken based on the report, he said.
According to the police, after a video surfaced on social media, victim Ajay Farkade complained to the Superintendent of Police on Friday.
Farkade said he runs a tea and breakfast stall at Multale bus stand and the police picked him up on the night of September 18.
The victim alleged that the police tied him to a window grill and beat him on suspicion of selling drugs and paid no attention to his pleas of innocence.
