Chandigarh, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday criticized the Congress, alleging that there was regional bias and favoritism in jobs when the party was in power in the state, while corruption was rampant in all sectors.
Addressing an election rally in Bahadurgarh under Rohtak parliamentary constituency, he claimed that the Narendra Modi government launched several schemes for the benefit of the poor and farmers in the last 10 years, which has brought a smile on his face.
On the other hand, Congress, during its six decades in power, did nothing to eradicate poverty in the country except raising the slogan of 'Garibi Hatao'.
Taking an indirect dig at Rahul Gandhi, the senior BJP leader said, "Now, the 'Yuvraj' of Congress says he will eradicate poverty in one stroke. What 'Aladdi ka Chirag' (magic lamp) does he have now? ?"
Claiming that all sections of the society will benefit from the Modi government's schemes, Saini said there is a consensus across the country that "this time we have crossed 40".Leaders of the ruling BJP have repeatedly expressed confidence that the NDA will win more than 400 seats in the Lok Sabha elections and the BJP alone will win 370 seats.
He emphasized that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Modi, the country is moving rapidly on the path of progress.
Campaigning for BJP's sitting MP from Rohtak, Arvind Sharma, who had defeated Congress' Deepender Singh Hooda in 2019, the Haryana Chief Minister alleged that "regionalism and 'familialism'" had flourished in Haryana when the Congress was in power.
"There was favoritism in giving jobs while corruption was rampant," the senior BJP leader said.
Saini alleged that during the Bhupinder Singh Hooda-led Congress government in the state, "farmers used to get compensation checks of Rs 2 and Rs 5".He said, "Manohar Lal (Khattar) ji paid the dues of the farmers of Haryana." He claimed that like last time, people will make BJP victorious on all the 10 Lok Sabha seats in the state.
Taking aim at the Congress, he said, "The crown prince of Congress talks about waiving off the loans of farmers. He lied during the last elections also. In Rajasthan, 4,000 farmers sacrificed their lives, while the land of 16,000 others was confiscated. Due to payment).,
With the opposition often targeting the BJP-led government over the law and order situation in the state and alleging that many businessmen have received ransom calls, Saini said criminals will not be spared.
Saini targeted Congress's probable candidate from Rohtak Lok Sabha seat, Deepender Hooda, saying that he made false allegations during the campaign.
Deepender Hooda recently said that the people of Rohtak city have told him that dirty water is being supplied to the residents while in many areas there is no water supply for months.
He said, “Congress leaders make baseless allegations here. Everyone knows what he had done during his time.Be it Bahadurgarh, Rohtak, Sampla or Jhajjar, our mothers and sisters had to walk for several kilometers carrying a pitcher of water on their heads. The BJP government has done this by ensuring clean drinking water in everyone's homes,'' he said.
On some traders receiving ransom calls, Saini said those involved in such acts will have to face consequences.
“We want to warn such elements. We have instructed the police that if someone threatens over the phone, immediate action should be taken. "People want peace, they want development."
“I want to assure traders that they need not be afraid of anything. No one needs to be afraid. We know very well how to teach such people a lesson. There is no question of sparing them and they will be dealt with sternly," Saini asserted.
Voting will be held on May 25 in the sixth phase of general elections on all 10 seats of Haryana.
