DARJEELING: Union Home Minister Amit Shah could not attend a scheduled election rally in West Bengal's Darjeeling town on Sunday as his helicopter failed to land due to bad weather, a party leader said.

Shah was to address a rally in support of BJP candidate Raju Bista from Darjeeling Lok Sabha seat.

He said, "Amit Shah ji's Darjeeling visit had to be canceled as his helicopter failed to land in Darjeeling due to bad weather."

Later, speaking to reporters, Bista, who is the local MP, said Shah may come to the hills at a later date before the Darjeeling Lok Sabha seat goes to polls on April 26.

Local BJP leaders addressed the meeting.
