Chandigarh, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday criticized the Congress, alleging that there was regional bias and favoritism in jobs when the party was in power in the state, while corruption was rampant in all sectors.

At an election rally in Jhajjar, he claimed that the Narendra Modi government has launched many schemes in the last 10 years to bring smiles on the faces of the poor and farmers.

He alleged that Congress, on the other hand, did nothing to eradicate poverty during its six decades of rule except raising the slogan of 'Garibi Hatao'.

Taking an indirect dig at Rahul Gandhi, the senior BJP leader said, "Now, the 'Yuvraj' of Congress says he will eradicate poverty in one stroke. What 'Aladdin's lamp' (magic lamp) does he have now? ?"

Saying that the Modi government's scheme has benefited all sections of the society, Saini said there is a consensus across the country that "this time we have crossed 400".Leaders of the ruling BJP have repeatedly expressed confidence that the NDA will win more than 400 seats in the Lok Sabha elections and BJP alone will win 370 seats.

He emphasized that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Modi, the country is moving rapidly on the path of progress.

Campaigning for BJP's sitting MP from Rohtak, Arvind Sharma, who had defeated Congress' Deepender Singh Hooda in 2019, the Haryana Chief Minister alleged that "regionalism and 'familism' flourished in Haryana when the Congress was in power.

The senior BJP leader said, “There was favoritism in giving jobs while corruption was rampant.”

While the opposition often targets the BJP-led government over the law and order situation in the state and alleges that many businessmen have received ransom calls, Saini said criminals will not be spared.Saini targeted Congress's probable candidate from Rohtak Lok Sabha seat, Deepender Hooda, saying that he made false allegations during the campaign.

Deependra had recently said that people of Rohtak city had told him that dirty water was being supplied to the residents while many areas were not getting water supply for months.

He said, "Congress leaders make baseless allegations here. Everyone knows what they had done in their time. Be it Bahadurgarh, Rohtak, Sampla or Jhajjar, our mothers and sisters had to walk several kilometers carrying pitchers of water on their heads. Had to walk till then. BJP government has done this.“Clean drinking water was ensured in everyone's homes,” he said.

On some traders receiving ransom calls, Saini said those involved in such acts will have to face consequences.

"We want to warn such elements. We have instructed the police that if anyone gives threats over phone, immediate action should be taken. People want peace, they want development.,

"I want to assure traders that they need not be afraid of anything. No one needs to be afraid. We know very well how to teach such people a lesson. There is no question of sparing them. And they will be dealt with sternly." Saini insisted.

Voting will be held on May 25 in the sixth phase of general elections on all 10 seats of Haryana.
