New Delhi, Railways on Wednesday signed an agreement with a tech firm for "exploration and delivery" of Train Collision Avoidance System KAVAC implementation projects in India as well as other countries.
For this purpose, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between RailTel Corporation of India Limited and Quadrant Future Tech Limited.
In the statement, RailTel said the agreement with the tech firm is for "exploration and delivery of Kavach (train collision avoidance system implementation projects in India as well as other countries)".
“The MOU creates a framework for Quadrant to partner exclusively with Railte to provide specific targeted opportunities related to armour,” it added.
Kavach is an indigenously developed Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system of Indian Railways.The statement said it is a highly technology intensive system that requires the highest level of security certification. Indian Railways is marketing this system in other countries also.
According to RailTel, the implementation of Kavach on the Indian Railways network is one of the priority areas of the national transporter. The system was adopted as the "National ATP System" by the Ministry of Railways in July 2020.
RailTel said, “Quadrant Future Tech Limited is in the process of final approval by the Research Designs and Standards Organization (RDSO) as the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) for the Kavach project.,
“RailTel has an in-house team of experts in railway signaling systems and I am fully capable of taking up large-scale upgrade projects like Kavach. Both parties, with their individual expertise, are now aggressively pursuing the Kavach project. Will explore opportunities." ,
RailTel Chairman-cum-Managing Director Sanjay Kumar said RailTel is committed to contribute to the journey of Indian Railways towards implementation of indigenous safety systems like Kavach and will explore dissemination of the technology abroad.
RailTel said, “Quadrant Future Tech Limited is a technology and innovation-driven company certified with ISO/IRIS/TS Quality Management Systems."
