Tarn Taran: A 55-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted and paraded half-naked by her son's in-laws after she got married against the wishes of the bride's parents. Police gave this information on Saturday.

Police station in-charge Sunita Bawa said that out of the five people registered in connection with the incident, four were arrested on Saturday.

Police said the incident took place in a village on March 31, a few days after which the victim's son eloped with a woman and married her against the wishes of her family.

According to the complaint lodged by the victim, she was alone at her home when her son's in-laws allegedly assaulted her and tore her clothes.

The victim alleged that they took her around the village in a semi-nude condition.

An alleged video of the victim being paraded surfaced on social media on Friday.

The SHO said the woman's mother Kulwinder Kaur Mani, her brothers Sharanjit Singh Shanni and Gurcharan Singh and a family friend Sunny Singh were arrested.

He said the accused will be produced in court for remand and the mobile phone used to make the video has also been seized.

He said that efforts are being made to nab the fifth accused also.

Based on the complaint, on April 3, sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 354B (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe) of the Indian Penal Code were registered against her. An FIR was registered under the Experiment). 354D (stalking), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 149 (unlawful assembly).
