New Delhi, National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday conducted raids at several places in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar against CPI (Maoists) in the anti-India conspiracy case. The officers provided this information.

The premises of the accused and suspected persons were raided by NIA teams at 11 locations in Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh and one location in Kaimur district of Bihar.

An NIA spokesperson said that during the searches, several digital devices including mobile phones, SI cards and memory cards as well as incriminating documents such as pamphlets of the banned Naxalite organization were seized.

The NIA had taken over the investigation of the case related to the arrest of five people following the recovery of CPI (Maoist) arms and ammunition, incriminating documents, literature and books in Ballia on November 10 last year.

The agency had filed a charge sheet against four accused in the case on February 9, 2024.

As per the NIA investigation so far, the banned organization is making active efforts to re-energize its presence in the Northern Regional Bureaus of UP, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh.

The spokesperson said CPI (Maoist) leaders, cadre and supporters, grassroots workers (OGWs) are trying to revive the organization's weakening presence in the area.

The spokesperson said the NIA has been moving aggressively in recent months to foil the nefarious plans of the organization and the investigation into the case is ongoing.
