On Wednesday, an unknown assailant shot dead a person released on bail in a murder case in Baraut police station area of Baghpat (UP), district. Police officials gave this information.
"Dheeraj, 24, a native of Wajidpur village under Baraut police station, was shot by an unidentified assailant around 3 pm. He died on the spot," said Saviratna Gautam, circle officer (CO) of the area.
Police have sent the body for postmortem and started investigation.
According to officials, the deceased was an accused in the murder case of Sunny Tomar of the same village in September 2022.
"Dheeraj was in jail in a murder case and had taken bail from the court about a month ago. Since then he was living with his family in the village," the CO said.
“We have formed two teams to investigate the matter and arrest the people behind the incident,” he said.
