Chandigarh, A court in Punjab's Mansa district on Wednesday framed charges against jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and 26 other accused in connection with the Sidhu Moosewala murder case.
Singer Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, popularly known as Sidhu Moosewala, was shot dead in Punjab's Mansa district on May 29, 2022. The main accused in this sensational case, Canada-based gangster Satinderjit Singh alias Goldie Brar, has not been arrested yet and charges have not been framed against him.
Moosewala's family lawyer Satinder Pal Singh Mittal said, "District Sessions Judge HS Grewal framed charges against 27 accused in the Moosewala murder case."
Apart from this, the court also rejected the discharge petitions of accused Lawrence Bishoni, Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, Jagtar Singh and Charanjit Singh Chetan, the lawyer said.
The court has fixed the next hearing on May 20.
Reacting to the development, Moosewala's father Balkaur Singh said that for the first time in the last 24 months, the family is feeling some relief.The accused have been booked under various sections including 302 (murder), 30 (attempt to murder), 326 (intentionally causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapon or means), 148 (rioting, being armed with deadly weapon), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence). A case was registered under. offence), sections 212 (harboring an offender) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code and other relevant sections of the Arms Act.
Moosewala was murdered when he was going to Jawahar village in Mansa in a jeep with his friend and cousin. His vehicle was stopped and six shooters opened fire on him.
After the murder, Lawrence Bishnoi gang member Goldie Brar claimed responsibility for the murder.According to the charge sheet filed by the police, the accused was the mastermind of the murder of Brar Moosewala, which was carried out to "revenge" the murder of Youth Akali leader Vicky Middukheda in 2021.
Brar was declared a terrorist by the government under the anti-terrorism law UAP in January this year.
According to the charge sheet, he had coordinated with accused Lawrence Bishnoi, Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, Sachi Bhiwani, Anmol Bishnoi, Sachin Thapan, Monu Dagar, Pawan Bishnoi and the shooters and hatched a plan to kill Moosewala.
Bishnoi, who was allegedly operating his gang from Tihar Jail, was arrested by the Punjab Police in the murder case.
