Indore: A 79-year-old 'sevak', one of the 14 people injured in the fire that broke out at the famous Mahakaleshwar temple in Madhya Pradesh's Ujjain last month, died during treatment at a hospital in Maharashtra on Wednesday morning. An officer gave this information.
On March 25, during the famous Bhasma Aarti ritual, a fire broke out in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple after gulal fell on the puja plate in which camphor was burning.
Fourteen people, including priests and servants, were injured in the fire.
Ujjain District Collector Neeraj Kumar Singh said, "Mahakaleshwar Temple sevadar Satyanarayan Soni (79) was first sent to a private hospital in Indore and when his condition did not improve, he was admitted to the National Burns Center in Mumbai." ''
"He died during treatment at a Mumbai hospital. He was already suffering from diabetes," the official said.
The Collector said that three people burnt in the fire have currently been admitted to Sri Aurobindo Institute of Medical Sciences, Indore, while other injured people have recovered after treatment.
