Ludhiana: Four people, including two children, died when a van collided with a roadside tree here on Friday.
The incident occurred near Powat village when the driver of the van carrying 17 passengers lost control of the vehicle after a motorcycle suddenly entered the road, he said.
According to the police, the van collided with a tree. Three children from VA fell into a nearby canal. Two of them drowned and their bodies were recovered while efforts are being made to search for the third child.
Two women also died on the spot in the accident. Of the 17 passengers, two women died on the spot and 12 others were injured and rescued. Police said he was immediately taken to the hospital.
It was reported that the victims were residents of Nizampur village near Payal town, who were returning after offering prayers at Gurudwara Baba Barbhag Singh in Himachal Pradesh.
