Baripada (Odisha): The Odisha government has deployed Disaster Rapid Action Force personnel to douse the forest fire inside the Simlipa Tiger Reserve (STR) in Mayurbhanj district, officials said on Sunday.
An official said fires were seen at around 31 places in STR on Sunday and officials are deployed with adequate fire fighting equipment to douse the flames.
Forest officials have been watching the fire incidents for the last few days. Nearly 1 fire was seen on Saturday and the number increased to 31 on Sunday, the official said.
"The operation in STR is going on war footing. We have deployed personnel and fire squads at all sensitive locations to concentrate on fire points," said STR field director Prakash Chand Gogineni.
He said, Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) team is also assisting us.
