New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday sought early hearing in the Supreme Court on his plea challenging the High Court order upholding his arrest in a money laundering case.
Chief Justice DY Chandrachud told senior advocate and Kejriwal's counsel Abhishek Singhvi, "I will look into the e-mail (demanding early listing of the petition). Please send the email."
Singhvi said, "This is urgent and is in relation to the Chief Minister of Delhi. This arrest has been made on the basis of unreliable documents and has been hidden from us."
Earlier in the day, Kejriwal moved the apex court against the April 9 orders of the high court judges.
In a blow to Kejriwal ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, the Delhi High Court on Tuesday upheld his arrest in a money laundering case linked to the Delhi Excise policy and said the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has 'after repeatedly issuing summons' There were very few options left. And refused to join the investigation.
The high court also cited the ED's claim that Kejriwal conspired to get the plea against his arrest dismissed and was actively involved in utilizing and concealing the proceeds of crime.
