Guwahati, Congress MP and Lok Sabha election candidate from Assam's Nagaon constituency Pradyut Bordoloi has filed a complaint against Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, alleging that he cheated all ration cardholders by offering money during the ongoing election campaign. Has violated the model code of conduct. ,

Bordoloi lodged a complaint with the Chief Election Commissioner on Tuesday night, alleging that Sarma had promised to transfer Rs 10,000 to the bank accounts of each ration cardholder after the elections at a public meeting in Lakhimpur during the day.

Saying that such assurances are a "clear violation" of the MCC, the Congress leader said, "Such promises are not only unethical but also an attempt to influence voters through financial inducements, thereby disrupting the electoral process." integrity is compromised".

He urged the Election Commission to thoroughly investigate the matter and take appropriate action against the Chief Minister for his "misconduct".

Bordoloi also filed another complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer, alleging that the BJP is continuing with the controversial socio-economic survey, for which a show cause notice has already been served to the ruling party."Despite receiving a show cause notice from the CEO on April 6 regarding election inducement, the government has continued to distribute forms to conduct socio-economic survey of beneficiaries under the 'Orunodoi' cash direct benefit transfer (DBT) scheme. A promise has been made to include the Congress MP.

Bordoloi claimed that such forms were being distributed in Ward No. 1 O Matharboi of Barapuziya village panchayat in Morigaon district on Tuesday.

"I fear that similar activities may take place in other places as well. This blatant disregard for electoral norms and misuse of government schemes for electoral gains is unacceptable," he said.

On April 5, the CEO's office reprimanded the ruling BJP over the allegation of violation of MCC leveled by CPI(M).The Left party had alleged that the BJP had violated the MCC by collecting data of people in the pretext of conducting a socio-economic survey with the intention of increasing the number of beneficiaries under a government scheme.

The notice, signed by the election department secretary, was issued to the state BJP unit president, seeking a response within 10 am on April 8.

The CEO's office said that while general election promises are permitted, "specific surveys, form distribution and data collection make the design transactional and are in the nature of solicitation of voters", which is prohibited activity.
