Thane: Police have registered a case against a man and his son, a warehouse owner, in Maharashtra's Thane district for alleged misappropriation of merchant goods stored at their facility, an official said on Wednesday.

The trader, who dealt in rubber goods imported from various countries, used the warehouse owned by the accused to store his goods and also paid rent for it.

Goods of various grades of synthetic rubber worth Rs 55,37,908 allegedly went missing from the warehouse at Rahnal in Bhiwandi area between March and December 2023, an official from Narpoli police station said, quoting the trader's complaint.

The complainant told the police that he was alerted by another trader, who also kept his goods in the warehouse and informed him on January 11, 2024, that some of his stock was missing from there.

Subsequently, the complainant inspected and found that his rubber item was missing.



Based on the complaint, the police on Tuesday registered a case against both the accused under Indian Penal Code sections 407 (criminal breach of trust), 40 (criminal breach of trust by a public servant, banker, merchant or agent) and 34 (common intention) ), the officer said.
