Raipur, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi on Sunday said that the BJP-led central government wants to change the Constitution and curtail the rights of the people.

Addressing a rally in Chhattisgarh's Balod in support of Congress' Kanke Lok Sabha candidate Biresh Thakur, he also condemned the use of religion in politics and said this has never been the tradition of the country.

He claimed, "The Constitution has given you the right to vote, giving reservation has ensured the protection of tribal culture and helped in the development of Dalits. The BJP-led central government wants to change this Constitution and take away the rights of the people." Wants to cut down."

He said any change in the Constitution would affect everyone and people would not be able to live a dignified life as their rights, including asking questions, would be lost. The senior Congress leader alleged that the intentions of the BJP-led Center were not good.

Saying that "sham politics" has taken hold and has become the trend in the country, he said, "Today, when a leader does puja, there should be a camera and it should be seen on television. There should be sham. It is necessary."

The Congress further said, “Indiraji (former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi) had a puja room to perform rituals, but she did it in privacy. It was not for show.Religion should not be used in politics as it has not been our tradition,” he said.

Gandhi said that religion means truth and service and if a leader makes false promises then he is neither religious nor on the path of truth.

“The BJP-led central government is working only for a few industrialist friends of PM Modi. If it was working for you (citizens), your problems would have been solved gradually.Modiji's government has been in power for 10 years. Has your life changed?" he asked.

Gandhi said that BJP leaders keep claiming that Prime Minister Modi has become a powerful leader of the world, but if it was so then why did he not reduce unemployment and control inflation.

The Congress leader claimed that the PM waived off loans worth Rs 16 lakh crore of industrialist friends.Voting will be held in the second phase of Lok Sabha elections in Kanker on April 26.
