Bhubaneswar, BJP on Wednesday submitted a petition to the Odisha Chief Electoral Officer, demanding action against BJD leader Pradeep Majhi for allegedly spreading lies and displaying a doctored video of Union Minister Amit Shah's speech on the reservation issue. Went.

A delegation of the state BJP led by spokesperson Dilip Mallik submitted a petition in this regard to the CEO.

Mallick alleged that BJD's Nabarangpur Lok Sabha seat candidate Pradeep Majhi had said at an election rally that "if BJP returns to power, it will end reservation."

"To get tribal votes, Congress prepared a fake video and BJD resorted to spreading lies," he alleged.

Such statement by the BJD leader is not only a violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) but also a move to instigate tribals to violence in the state, the BJP leader claimed.

The BJP delegation demanded Majhi's arrest and requested the Election Commission to bring BJD leader VK Pandian, who was present at the election rally, under its ambit.

Meanwhile, BJD has submitted a petition to the Chief Electoral Office alleging that BJP candidate from Berhampur Lok Sabha constituency Pradeep Panigrahi and Khurda Assembly seat candidate Prashant Jagdev are threatening government officials on election duty.

"It has come to our notice that Panigrahi and Jagdev are intimidating BDOs, tehsildars and police officers to ensure their allegiance to the BJP in the upcoming elections," the BJD alleged in its petition.

BJD urged the Election Commission to take immediate steps to thoroughly investigate the allegation and take appropriate action against those responsible for threatening government officials.
