New Delhi, Oct 2 () Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk and 150 Ladakhis were detained again after being released by the Delhi Police late on Tuesday night, while their indefinite fast continues at police stations, officials said on Wednesday.
Wangchuk and other detained Ladakhis were allowed to leave on Tuesday night, but they were adamant on marching towards the central part of Delhi, so they were detained again, a senior police officer said.
Wangchuk has been kept at Bawana police station along with some others, while others have been kept at Narela Industrial Area, Alipur and Kanjhawala police stations, he said.
Wangchuk and those accompanying him were detained by Delhi Police on Monday night for violating prohibitory orders at the Singhu border when they tried to enter the national capital to press for their demands.
He was leading the 'Delhi Chalo Padyatra' which started from Leh a month ago.
It was organized by the Leh Apex Body, which, along with the Kargil Democratic Alliance, has been leading the movement for the last four years for statehood for Ladakh, its inclusion in the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution and other demands.
A representative of the protesting group said on Tuesday that those who have been detained have gone on an indefinite fast.
He said that if Delhi Police does not allow him to go to Gandhi Smriti on Wednesday, he will continue to sit at police stations even after his release.
