The complainant, Brendan Ferao (26), is a doctor with an MBBS degree and a resident of Malad area of ​​the metropolis.

A police officer said, “In his complaint, he said that he had ordered butterscotch ice cream cones from Yummo company through an e-commerce app.While eating ice cream after lunch, he found a piece of meat with a nail stuck in it," he said.

The man, who is pursuing post graduation, then raised the matter by complaining about it on the ice cream company's Instagram page. But after not getting any proper response from the company, the complainant kept the piece of meat in an ice bag and went to Malad police station, where he lodged a complaint, the officer said.

Based on his complaint, the police booked him under sections 272 (adulteration of food or drink intended for sale), 273 (sale of noxious food or drink) and 336 (endangering the life or personal safety of others) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Case registered under IPC.), against officials of Yummo Ice Cream Company, he said.

"The piece of flesh, which is suspected to be a fragment of a human finger, has been sent for forensic examination to find out whether it is part of a human body," the officer said.

Speaking to media persons about the incident, complainant Ferrao said that while eating ice cream, he found a big piece in his mouth and at first he thought it was a walnut.

He said, but when he suspected something was wrong, he took the piece out of his mouth and was horrified to see the piece of meat.

He said that since he is a doctor, he knows the human body parts very well and he discovered that the piece of flesh he found was of the thumb.He said, "I almost started trembling after finding the piece of meat in the ice cream. It shocked me a lot."

Senior police inspector Ravindra Adane said that the piece of meat with the nail on it was about one and a half centimeter long.

He said that after registering the case, the police have started investigation to find out from where the ice cream was brought and where and when it was manufactured.
