Four people, including two brothers, died when their car fell into a river in Dehradun, Uttarakhand's Bageshwar district in the early hours of Sunday.

Bageshwar Kotwali station house officer (SHO) Kailash Negi said the accident occurred around 4 am on the Reema-Gharamghar motor road near Chidag.

He told that the car fell into the river about 250 meters below the road.

All the people in the car were seriously injured in the accident.

Police and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel, with the help of local people, pulled him out of the river and took him to the hospital, where he was declared brought dead, the official said.

The victims were identified as Kamal Prasad, Neeraj Kumar, Deepak Arya and Kailash Ram, aged between 25 and 30, Negi said.

The station in-charge told that Neeraj and Deepak were brothers.

The families of the victims have been informed.

The official said the victims were residents of Vadyuda Reema and Junyal Dofad.
